It’s true.Thoughts of historical and religious sites come to mind when you consider the country of Israel.  You think of Old Jerusalem, the stories of infamous saints, and the rich culture of the people of this land.  So, as you plan your vacation to Israel, you are planning on relaxing and becoming immersed in the sights and sounds of this beautiful country.  However, what many people don’t know is that this same Israel has some of the best beach spots in the world.  With four seas surrounding Israel – the Mediterranean, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea and the Red Sea – the swimming experiences are absolutely amazing.

Of course, one of the most famous beach areas in Israel is the Ein Gedi Beach, on the outskirts of the Dead Sea.  This is an experience unlike any other.    As the lowest body of water on the earth with its extreme salt content, it is nearly impossible to keep yourself submerged in the water for long.  Imagine a cork that pops up to the top and floats – that is how your body feels while basking in the Dead Sea.

The mineral-rich water has quite a reputation for bringing beauty and therapy to those who dip there, all the way back to Cleopatra.  She made it a point to obtain exclusive rights to the Dead Sea area so she could enjoy the medicinal and cosmetic benefits of this body of water.  Don’t be surprised to see many swimmers covered with mud, which is also said to be therapeutic for the skin.Although many of the beaches boast of an exciting nightlife with partying, you will find this beach to be different. Instead, this beach is looked upon as a place to relax and find healing for both body and soul. The Ein Gedi Beach has showers of fresh water and also a café for your convenience.

Very close to the sandy shores of the Mediterranean Sea is Netanya, the capital of the Sharon district.  A huge tourist area, Netanya has developed into a city of leisure and enjoyment, offering many restaurants, both national and international entertainment and easy access to tourist sites from all over the country.  The new beach elevator in Netanya has attracted much attention, taking people to and from the city to the beaches and back again.  Netanya hotels are numerous, giving vacationers many options of where to stay while visiting this exciting beach area.

Near Eilat, you be in the southern part of the country, facing towards the Red Sea.  Here, the Coral Beach Nature Reserve, one of the world’s best diving spots, can be found.  For those who like to engage in snorkeling or scuba diving, this is the place you will enjoy the most.  The fish and coral formations are amazing and the equipment is available for rent.  Changing areas and showers are also available.

In the Red Sea area is the Dolphin Reef Beach, where people enjoy everyday, casual swimming.  You will find the dolphins swimming and playing in the waters here, close to the swimming area.  A beautiful spot, you will also find a café and bar at this location.

Located in the central part of Israel, also near the Mediterranean Sea, is the city of Herzliya.  Some of Israel’s finest beaches are in this area of the country.  Known for its industry and high-technology, this large city has an exciting life night, both in the city and on the beaches.  At this wealthy and busy community, you will find Herzliya hotels to be of the finest quality.

Along the Sea of Galilee is the Ein Gev Resort Village Beach. One of the most beautiful beaches on the lake, you must be a guest at the resort in order to enjoy this beach.A warm and refreshing experience, you will find the freshwater of the Sea of Galilee relaxing.  Many people feel both physical and spiritual strength and healing from swimming here.

The Gordon Beach in Tel Aviv is located along the Mediterranean Sea and is a free municipal beach. At this clean and simple beach, you will find a wide variety of social statuses and culture.  You will also find showers and places to grab a snack or meal.  This is a great place to go when you are first arriving and not sure of your plans.  It’s free, has a friendly atmosphere to all tourists, and is near many of the nicer Israel hotels.

If you want to visit a romantic beach with a touch of historical atmosphere, you will want to visit the Aqueduct Beach just north of Caesarea.  Built over 2,000 years ago by the Romans, this ancient aqueduct has lots of atmosphere.  This is a great spot on calm days because it is not usually crowded and the ruins create a sort of ambience of romance and relaxation.

These are only a few of the many popular beach spots in Israel. Many of Israel’s beaches are known for their nightlife and socializing while others are more family-oriented and relaxing.Byond doubt, you will be impressed by the beauty of Israel’s magnificent beaches, regardless of which ones you decide to visit.
